AC Milan to sell 4 players and buy Sando Tonali
AC Milan are ready to sacrifice four players in order to sign Berscia’s talented defensive midfielder Sando Tonali.
On 24 January at the Rigamonti Stadium, AC Milan shows up in Brescia after two consecutive victories, looking for a set of three to give further oxygen to their ascent in the rankings. On paper, it seems lie an easy challenge but Pioli’s side is suffering more than ever in 2020, especially in the middle of the pitch. A territorial dominion of Brescia that is “contained” only thanks to the enthusiasm of Bennacer and some great saves by Donnarumma, crucial to help AC Milan to win the match thanks to Rebic’s goal in the final moments. Leading Brescia’s midfielder, as in 23 of the 26 games played in Serie A, there is obviously Sandro Tonali, a fantastic player able to excel despite the evident difficulties of the team.
Despite the end result, the Rossoneri, old-time fans of Tonali, were speechless by the performances of the 19-year-old defensive midfielder. That Sando Tonali was a player destined for the top was already evident when he played in Serie B. But in his first season in Serie A he is already confirming his status as one of the best Italian players and surely one of the most in-demand when the transfer window opens.
In 2019 alone, AC Milan spent more than 60 million for Lucas Paqueta and Rafel Leao who, regardless of the unsatisfactory results, could only be considered as bets and investment for the future. Tonali is no longer a bet but rather an affirmed player whose market value has risen to €50 million. However, his contract expires in one year.
Competition for Tonali is fierce with Juventus and Inter favorites but the Rossoneri should not be excluded reports goal.com. Elliott’s philosophy is clear: focus on young players to build a solid group, and hopefully a winner one, over the years. AC Milan’s midfield is to be rebuilt almost completely thus the space (even economic) to focus on Tonali would be there. The Italian league is currently halted and online betting sites have updated their odds on Milan reaching the top 4, but the transfer market is as active as ever thus the Rossoneri are preparing their next moves.
At the end of the season, both Bonaventura and Biglia will leave the Rossoneri (12 million gross salary saved), Kessie could be sold, while for Calhanoglu, whose contract expires in 2021, it will be decided between renewal or transfer. Another player who will almost certainly leave Milan is Lucas Paqueta. Milan will will try to monetize or possibly bet on a multi-year loan with a pre-established transfer but, regardless of details, the Brazilian midfielder is almost sure to leave. The only certain to stay is Ismael Bennacer.
Rather than signing three or four players at 10-15 million players AC Milan intend to focus on a single player guaranteed to inject quality into the squad and become a regular starter. The rest of the department could be completed at low cost, perhaps with Tommaso Pobega returning at Milan without spending additional money on the market. Tonali is a Milan fan and could represent the face of the Rossoneri’s restart after many difficult years.
